Australians Are Taking Greater Control of Their Energy Costs

By increasing household solar.

The Clean Energy Regulator's (CER) Carbon Market Report for Quarter 1 of 2023 has been released, identifying that the number of Aussies installing rooftop solar is on the rise.

Electricity prices are on an upward trend, therefore the uptake of solar comes at no surprise as Australians search for cost-saving solutions. Solar is an excellent option for those with bills north of $200/ quarter, especially if you use lots of energy during the day.

For those who use more at night, the combination of solar panels and a solar battery has seen some households reduce their bills to zero dollars - even putting some homes in credit!

After installing an Alpha ESS Solar battery at his home in Queensland, Dean is seeing his grid energy consumption drop.

We are stoked that Dean made the choice to take control of his energy consumption at home. Dean is so happy to be seeing the benefits of his investment, he is spreading the word.

I have been watching the results of the system through the App, which is easy to use and read. Our electricity use from the grid, on most days, is negligible, and on the other days is probably one tenth of what we were using.”

“... I have already recommended this system to friends and family, who are watching our results closely, and are also impressed.”

The True Cost of Retail Energy.

When you see how much you are paying energy retailers over 10 years, it puts things into perspective. You could be using the same quarterly bill payments to pay for your solar system in less that 5 years. After, its paid for you'll forget what an energy bill even looks like!

A staggering 60% of Aussies are concerned about recent hikes in energy prices. Power bills have gone up by about 25% this month and a new survey reveals Australians are “not happy about it”.

Liam Navon from Smart Energy tells WSFM 101.7 Sydney, people are forking out thousands.

“Its not uncommon to find people spending upward of $2k per annum on electricity, and unfortunately a fair few people that are also paying more than double that”

… And we’re not happy about it either!

Smart Energy is encouraging people to look into rooftop solar panels and solar battery systems to avoid further expense. Simply reducing energy consumption at home is no longer cutting it when it comes to the cost of your power bill.

Get it on the roof: Smart Energy’s top 3 tips to buying solar

Before you get caught up in buying solar, are your bills higher than $200/ quarter? If yes, solar is the solution to reduce your electricity costs.

Beware, there are some solar cowboys out there ready to sell you a cheap fix, and gallop off into the horizon, never to be seen or heard from again. Research the company thoroughly to ensure you have long term support for the life of your system.

If you are considering a battery down the line, don’t wait. Retro-fitting a battery to an existing solar system is possible but comes with a few downsides in comparison to installing a battery.

If your budget allows, maximise on your energy savings with the full package.
